Not surprised if it is down with all the harsh weather we just experienced. . . and it appears to be. Rooster Cam is down. |

It's been a rough winter for the RoosterCam, but it's back up. It usually just needs a reboot, but this time it was either the network/power connection at the camera or the wires in the network cable are beginning to break. I could see cracks in the cable this time, so that's not a good sign.
I also zoomed it out a bit which will give a little wider field of view, but the trees on the side are getting bigger, so we can only go so wide. Also, there is a cottonwood tree growing in the embankment which is right in the middle of the view. I talked to the ranger and he said they could probably remove it and maybe trim the two trees a little.
With a little luck we may get more life out of the RoosterCam.

If the issue with the cracking cables is from abrasion at the entrance point of the camera housing, this stuff is amazing: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AO9IRG
It melds together after being installed creating an impenetrable seal to the elements.
However, if the issue is with the cables in general then they are probably not outdoor rated cables and should be replaced.
***I previously posted an incorrect link to the product I was recommending. Proper link is https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001AO9IRG *** _________________ Kiting starts at 40MPH |
