Can't find any reviews on this new board. I ride a 2019 Mixer and am curious how it compares. Anyone spend any time on this board yet, and what are your thoughts, in what conditions? I'd be riding the 5'8" in typical corridor or Rufus swell.

Specs look nice! I'd like to think it could work strapless as a thruster, and strapped as a quad for the coast with a heavier rider like me.

Are you going for strapped or strapless? Just swell riding,or more?

I ride with straps on river swell. The Mixer is a groveler board which works well in what we usually get here, and is quite snappy - not sure if that's a result of the tail shape or it being a quad. I ride with large fins and tend to push it hard, as well as jump it quite a bit. I don't get to the coast and don't ride big waves; wouldn't call what we get on the river here "waves", for the most part.

I rode the Mixer and Celero FR back to back for a season and found the Mixer better suited to my preferences. (Where the Celero shined, for me, was in head-high+ days at Rufus with more drawn-out set-the-rail carves). So I'm eager to feel how this swallowtail rides, especially as a quad, but love the option to try it out as a thruster and maybe even dualie (been watching lots of two-fin surf videos with curiosity).

I couldn't find much info on this board but went ahead and bought it anyway. So glad I did! It is a swallowtail with a little bit of rocker kick at the tail, and it was phenomenally snappy in the waist- to chest-high Rufus conditions I just rode it in. I cut it back hard at one point and almost 360'd it! 😎

I chose the 5'6" based on the similarity to the 5'8" Mixer specs I was riding, and I think it's the right size for me (6'3", 180#). It is NOT a groveler like the Mixer, nor is it a traditional drawn-out-carver like the popular Celero (aka celery toss). I also really like the new deck for strapless riding, as opposed to the front and back pads on the older boards (with 'skating rink' in between).

It comes stock as a thruster, and I've run it in various quad configurations (FCS and Cardiff medium and large sizes). My favorite configuration so far is as a thruster with large Cardiff hexcores (https://www.ebay.com/itm/315470504655). I can't say enough about Cardiff fins, by the way, as they are a far better value than the overpriced FCS upgrades, and the seller is negotiable and responsive on eBay - I think local shops should check them out and consider supplying them as an alternative to the $120+ FCS fin packs. 🤑

The board feels much lighter than my 2019 Mixer and Celero, presumably due to the "XR" construction, and that translates to an improved ride for my old ankles and knees. I'm riding it with straps, though the rear strap has to be installed offset, as there are two rows of screw holes rather than a single in-line set. It jumps... well, like a surfboard. 🤷‍♂️

Anyway I'm rather enjoying the Burner XR in the gorge swell and will therefore be selling my Mixer and Celero. Very Happy
