Hey folks.

I’m going to a light wind foil kiting destination (Diani Beach, Kenya) next week. I only have up to 8m size kites for Gorge winds.

Does anyone in the Gorge have a 9 or 11m UFO I could rent for the trip? I can use my existing bar, so just the canopy. I’d be happy to pay or compensate and would of course replace if damaged. Advanced rider with 10+ year kiting and 4 years foiling.

Thanks!

Jonathan

While I love the 11m UFO for a very lightwind spot, Diani Beach looks to be too windy most of the time for the 11m. The 11m gets overpowered fairly quickly, and the 9 and the 8 both have great low ends. Looking at the weather Forecast for this week, I'd be on the 8 or the 6 every day, and every day the 11m would get overpowered. (Except for today, Feb 1. Today looks like a good 11m day.) Think of the 11m for a day that is absolutely not going to get above 10 knots. Anyways, that's just my take after a brief look at the spot. I think I'd bring the 4, 5, 6, 8. The 8m with 26m lines takes me comfortably down to 10 knots, 11 knots with 23m lines. If I'm really jonesing for a session, I could cut a knot off of both of those, assuming the lulls weren't too bad.
