Been to Baja to kite many times. I’m seeking alternatives that are less than 10 hours flying time from PDX. Any recos? We only have a week of vacation time. Prefer waves and stronger wind.
Aruba?
Puerto Rico?
Turks and Caicos?
Panama?

Not sure about the rest...
NOT Turks and Caicos - it's crazy beautiful also $$$ and maybe one of the better learning spots with endless warm shallow water. Not so much with waves and strong winds.
That said we kited 7 of 7 days all on light wind gear - had a big smile on my face and memories that will last a lifetime...
Safe Travels,
Mc

i kited aruba about 10 years ago. Its not a place id recommend as a kite destination, though id tell you to take your kites if you were already going.
If you are into waves, check out peru. Its definitely worth being on your list.

Pretty hard to beat Maui. 5-6 hour flight from PDX. Leave rainy Portland in the morning. On the water riding the big winter waves by early afternoon.
