I have an 82cm & 92cm I'm sure there are several opinions here, and would love to hear them.

Assuming that you care about your wings I would go as short as possible. Also assuming you plan to wing outside of the harbor. I think I used a 68cm last I was there.
Most of the local's gear is scratched to hell! Last edited by Wind Slither on Tue Feb 11, 25 5:35 am; edited 1 time in total |

The tides table has not been our friend the last week. Lots of trashed foils because the low tide has been corresponding with the peak winds around 2 or 3 PM. My friend is the Armstrong rep and his demo gear has been coming home damaged. One winger paddled to shore with his foil missing after hitting the reef! Consequently the shorter the better. _________________ moondog |

Doh!, 68cm I meant.
My first time winging on Maui it seemed like everybody was winging off the main kite beach at Kanaha park. The next time I went there seemed to be no deep water all the way out to the reef. People go all the way to the end to launch up above the windsurfers but that still kicked my ass.
If you're good and well powered and able to stay high on foil the whole time it helps but I was learning a new smaller board and getting under powered in the lulls. |
